MONITORING

• Regular review required:
• Adults: within 4 weeks for new treatments
• Children: within 2 weeks for new treatments

TREATMENT PLAN

Skin preparations:

• Mild: hydrocortisone 0.1%
• Moderate: betamethasone valerate 0.025% (Betnovate RD), clobetasone (Eumovate)
• Potent: betamethasone valerate 0.1% (Betnovate)
• Very potent: clobetasol (Dermovate)

Usage guidelines:

• Very potent: maximum 4 weeks
• Potent: maximum 8 weeks
• Eczema: BD for 7 days during flares, consider twice weekly for long-term – Application guidance:
• One fingertip unit covers 2 hand-size areas – Dosage by area:
• Trunk and legs: 100mg
• Arms: 30-60mg
• Face, scalp, neck, hands, groin/axilla: 15-30mg
• Wait 20-30 minutes before emollient application

Other routes:

• Eye preparations: initiated in secondary care for trauma, allergy, infections
