TREATMENT PLAN
Mild (PUQE <6):
- Reassurance Ginger
- Acupressure
First-line medications:
- Cyclizine
- Promethazine
- Prochlorperazine
- Chlorpromazine
- Xonvea (combination medication)
Second-line medications:
- Metoclopramide (max 5 days due to extrapyramidal effects)
- Domperidone (max 7 days due to cardiac effects)
- Ondansetron (max 5 days, risk of cleft lip in first trimester)
Additional treatments:
- H2 antagonists/PPIs for reflux
- Thiamine supplementation if deficient
- Laxatives for constipation
Hospital admission criteria:
- PUQE score 7-15
- Unable to tolerate oral intake
- Signs of dehydration
- Electrolyte imbalances
- >5% weight loss
- Persistent symptoms despite primary care treatment
