- Local skin trauma
- Allergic reactions (local/systemic)
- Systemic toxicity: headache, diarrhoea, vomiting, shock, BP changes
- Infectious diseases, e.g. Lyme disease
- Secondary bacterial infections
- Exacerbation of atopic eczema
- Psychological distress
