- Incidence: 7,000 cases annually
- Urgent referral criteria:
- Pelvic/abdominal mass on physical examination
- Carry out tests in primary care if aged >50 with any of these persistent symptoms for
>12 months:- Abdominal bloating
- Early satiety and fullness
- Pelvic and abdominal pain
- Increased urinary frequency/urgency
- Consider tests for – unexplained weight loss, fatigue, or changes in bowel habits
- Primary care investigations:
- Urine dipstick for frequency/urgency
- CA125 tumour marker:
- If >35 IU/mL: urgent abdominal & pelvic ultrasound: if this is suggestive of ovarian cancer do a 2-week cancer referral
