Thrombocytosis referral criteria: – 2-week wait if cancer suspected – Urgent referral if:

Platelets >1000

600-1000 with recent ATE/VTE/neurological symptoms, >60, abnormal bleeding  – Routine referral:

Persistent unexplained >450 for 3+ months

Unexplained abnormal bleeding >600 (at least 2 separate occasions 4-6 weeks apart)

Thrombocytopenia referral criteria:

• 2-week Cancer referral if malignancy suspected
• Immediate referral: <20 or active bleeding
• Urgent referral: <50
• Urgent referral if 50-100 with: Pancytopenia, Upcoming surgery, Pregnancy,

Lymphadenopathy,  Splenomegaly

• Repeat in 1-2 weeks if 50-100 without the above criteria
• Routine referral if <100 persists on 2 occasions, 4-6 weeks apart
• Repeat in 4-6 weeks if asymptomatic/no clear aetiology
