- Hairy tongue
- Geographic tongue
- Leucoplakia ( usually benign white plaques that cannot be rubbed off, due to exposure to irritants like tobacco or infections like oral candidiasis)
- Lichen planus ( 2 types: Reticular – white lacy striations, Erosive – zones of painful erythema & ulcers surrounded by white radiating striae)
- Chemical/thermal burns
- HIV
- EBV
- Oral cancers: melanomas, Kaposi’s sarcoma, Squamous cell carcinoma (associated with leucoplakia/erythroplakia).
