It can progress to widespread/oesophageal infection, especially in immunosuppressed.

KEY INFORMATION

• Three main types: pseudomembranous, denture stomatitis, chronic plaque-like
• Treatment differs based on immune status
• Children <16 cannot use oral fluconazole – only use topical treatments
• For children, refer if topical treatments are not tolerated.
