RISK FACTORS

• Feeding issues: inappropriate suckling, insufficient breast milk, incorrect formula
• Medical conditions: celiac disease, diabetes, iron deficiency, constipation, cleft lip, tongue tie
• Poor parent-child interaction
• Social issues
• Preterm birth
• Significant health problems
• Dementia

SUSPECTED IF

• Weight loss >10% from birth weight
• Failure to regain birth weight within 3 weeks
• Weight below 2nd centile for the specific age group, regardless of bodyweight – Centile drops:
• 1+ centile drop if weight below 9th centile
• 2+ centile drops if weight between 9th-91st centile
• 3+ centile drops if weight above 91st centile
