INVESTIGATIONS & DIAGNOS IS

Based on traffic light categorisation:

–  Red with life-threatening features: require admission

–  Red without life-threatening features: face-to-face within 2 hours

–  Amber: face-to-face assessment

–  Green: telephone assessment suitable

EXTRA’S

–  The traffic light system enables structured assessment and appropriate treatment pathway selection

–  temperature checks. o < 4 weeks: Axilla electronic thermometer

o 4 weeks – 5 years: electronic thermometer or chemical thermometer on axilla, infrared tympan thermometer.
