Signs & Symptoms
Stress incontinence:
- Leakage with coughing, sneezing and exertion
Urge incontinence:
- Increased urinary urgency
- Increased frequency
- Nocturia
Overflow incontinence:
- Straining to pass urine
- Incomplete emptying sensation
- Urinary retention
Investigations & Diagnosis
- Urinalysis
- Pelvic examination: assess pelvic floor strength, and check for prolapse/masses
Urgent cancer pathway referral is indicated if:
- Age ≥45: unexplained visible haematuria without UTI
- Age ≥45: persistent/recurrent visible haematuria post UTI treatment
- Age ≥60: unexplained non-visible haematuria with dysuria or raised white cell count
