Stage 1 AKI:
- Stable: review within 72hrs
- Unstable: review within 24hrs
Stage 2 AKI:
- Stable: review within 24hrs
- Unstable: review within 6hrs Stage 3 AKI:
- Stable: review within 6hrs
- Unstable: admit Admit if:
- Stage 3 AKI
- Severe/life-threatening causes
- Unclear aetiology
- Severe complications
Renal referral if:
- CKD stage 4-5
- Renal transplant history
- Renal aetiology needs specialist assessment
Management:
- Treat the underlying cause
- Monitor fluid balance
- Review medications
- Monitor serum creatinine
Prognosis
May progress to CKD if recurrent episodes
