Adhesions
• Result of intra-abdominal inflammation
• Bowel loops become adherent with fibrous bands connecting adjacent structures.
• Causes: surgery, intra-abdominal sepsis, IBD, endometriosis
• Presents: abdominal pain, possible obstruction
• Management: conservative (stool softeners, analgesia)
• Surgical option available, but risk of new adhesions
