- Examinations:
- BP, BMI
- Mood and mental state assessment o Wound assessment
- Abdominal/pelvic exam: if abdominal/vaginal bleeding, pus, pain, or suspected vaginal prolapse
- Tests: o Bloods o Urine o Vaginal swab
- For gestational diabetes:
- Glucose test: 6-13 weeks postpartum o Hba1c: after 13 weeks postpartum
TREATMENT PLAN
- Simple analgesia for pain Breastfeeding:
- Discuss vitamin D supplementation o Lactational protection
- Contraception:
- Discuss choices within 21 days postpartum o Can start some contraceptives immediately
- Lifestyle measures
- Treat complications promptly Type 2 diabetes:
- Resume metformin
- Avoid oral medications if breastfeeding
- Referral:
- If perineal wound breakdown or healing concerns

- Monitor for various postpartum complications
