Monitoring Requirements
Antipsychotics:
- BMI, weight
- U&Es, FBC
- LFTs, lipids
- HR, BP, ECG
- Prolactin
Lithium:
- Lithium Levels: Weekly until stable, then 3-monthly
- Normal plasma level is 0.6 – 0.8 (narrow therapeutic index)
- 6-monthly: Thyroid, U&Es, eGFR, calcium, BMI
- If toxicity is suspected do urgent levels & seek advice
- Tremors, diarrhoea, dry mouth, altered taste sensation, increased thirst,
increased urinary frequency, ataxia, nausea, blurry vision, vomiting & seizures

Sodium Valproate:
- BMI, LFTs, FBC at baseline, 6 months, 12 months
- Seek immediate advice if there are:
- Blood disorders (unexpected unexplained bleeding, bruising, sore throat or
fevers) - Liver disorders (jaundice, drowsy and oedema)
- Pancreatitis
