Signs & Symptoms
Mania:
• Duration: 1 week
• Requires hospitalisation
• Possible psychotic features
• Marked social/occupational impairment
Hypomania:
• Duration: 4 days
• No hospitalisation required
• No psychotic features
Depressive Episode:
• Duration: ≥2 weeks
Mixed Episode:
• Duration: 1-2 weeks
• Both manic/hypomanic and depressive symptoms present
Rapid Cycling:
• All 4 episodes within 12 months
