HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus) infection: a viral infection causing genital herpes
• Two types: HSV-1, HSV-2
• HSV-1: the most common cause of oral and genital herpes
• HSV-2: associated with recurrent genital herpes
Etiology
Transmission through:
HSV-2: vaginal and oral sex
• HSV-1: orogenital sex
