Investigations for Scrotal Swelling
- Ultrasound: First-line imaging to differentiate causes.
- Urgent if: no acute swelling, unsure diagnosis, persistent unexplained symptoms, hydrocele detected at 18 to 40 years of age (increased cancer risk), history of trauma/pain (possible Haematocele), Haematocele that isn’t a result of trauma
- Tumour Markers: For suspected malignancy (AFP, HCG, LDH).
- Urine Tests: For infection or STI-related swelling.
- Blood Tests: FBC, CRP (to check for inflammation/infection).
