Primary Care:
Antibiotics based on culture
Known susceptibility: Ciprofloxacin 500mg oral
• Unknown susceptibility: Ceftriaxone 1g IM single dose
• Screen for other STIs and HIV
• Follow-up in 1 week: check adherence and symptom resolution
Hospital referral if:
• Severe PID
• Suspected disseminated infection: fever, malaise, joint pain, swelling, rash
Test of cure required for:
• Persistent symptoms
• Throat symptoms
• Non-first line treatment
• The Asian Pacific region acquired an infection Partner notification:
• All contacts within 2 weeks
• Most recent partner if >2 weeks
• All partners within the last 3 months
